The 157th Civilian Service Rifle Imperial Championships took place at Bisley Short Siberia & Century ranges between the 1st and 4th July 2026. The competition is the most contested shoot of the year, it is designed to test stamina, positional shooting techniques and accuracy using military adapted service rifles typically in service rifle calibres. The competition has 8 matches spread across 4 days and the scores are then aggregated in classes to award a championship medal winner. Each match has three classifications designed to award based on skill and each match attracts a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal. Other prizes such as shooting mats, drag bags and scopes are awarded for sponsored matches. Matches are as Follows: Wednesday 1st July, The Imperial Practical Match (Scores here do not aggregate for the Championship, used by many as a shakedown and dope check) Thursday 2nd July, 100, 200, 300yd matches, and the Long Range match (300, 400, 500 & 500 rundown) Friday 3rd July, Urban match and the Short Range match (Urban match cancelled due to a serious medical emergency on range) Saturday 4th July, The Rural match (100, 200, 300, 400, 500 & 500 rundown)

A great week for shooting in this discipline. Very hot and sticky all week with temperatures up to 30 Degrees C and nowhere to hide on range. Wind was a real challenge this week with average wind speeds of around 8 mph gusting to 15, wind calls were a real problem for all as the wind was never static in direct for more than a minute or two.. In general, the week is a hard week of competition, it gives the shooter plenty to think about and get right, averages need to be good, consistency is king! As you shoot against the best competitors in your class (Service Optic or Practical Optic) over the week, it challenges the mind and focuses the discipline when on the point. Mistakes and dropping rounds off target invariably cost you a medal. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail!
