Each year the Pennine Shooting Sports Association run a 3 day CSR National competition comprising of 7 matches over distances ranging from 25yds through to 600yds this year won by Trevor Eeles with Simon Devlin in Runner up, both in the Service Optic Class. Not bad against some of the best and regular Service Optic shooters in the country. The Practical optic class was won by Mark Eustance, a Diggle club shooter who is arguably one of the best Practical Optic shooters in the country. This year competitors are classed in one of the following, all rifles must be of military calibre or civilian equivalent. (.223/5.56x45, .308/7.62x51, .303) > Practical Optic (any optic no restriction on magnification may use bipods, may use barricade stops,) > Service Optic (optics restricted to x4.5 magnification, no bipods, but rifles may rest on a magazine, no barricade stops. > Any Iron (any rifle with iron sights fitted) Shooters were allowed to change weapons before the start of a match but would not be eligible to meet the criteria for aggregate scores and therefore forfeit the chance to fight to win the championship but could still win individual match medals. Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals were available for the following matches in each of the classes above with the exception of Any irons where only Gold was available. Reepham medalists listed next to each. Three Reepham club members competed over the full 3 days, Russ Price, Simon Devlin & Trevor Eeles.

The three days were challenging, Diggle is no easy place to shoot as it is prone to challenging winds and invariably rains at some point and although there were a few showers during the weekend, they were reasonably light, even got one short spell of sunshine! Winds throughout kept everyone guessing ranging from 6 - 10mph gusting to 15mph throughout the weekend and with some directional changes just to make life interesting. As the championship and matches are run on three different ranges, everything changes as you move across the Diggle landscape. The championship is designed to test stamina over a multitude of positional shooting positions under some very stressful timed exposures. The battle for the championship was won by Trevor in the service optic class, a hard battle with Simon as he came out of the blocks running on day one setting some excellent high scoring in the Short Range and Excellence in competition matches. CSR is about consistency and not making too many mistakes, get your wind calls right, know and be confident with your elevation changes, but most of all, know the course of fire and timings. All in all an excellent weekend with all 3 club members enjoying the shooting, the ad hoc camping experience, nature, the banter and the changeable weather! Thanks to the Match director Tim Kennerly and the hospitality of the PSSA club members and all who travelled far and wide to compete. Pictures from the event.

Very well done to Trev and Simon for the wins - some very high quality shooting lads, against a group from across the country and the local Diggle squad who really know the ground and its challenges.
