Diggle CSR League Jan 2026

Updated: 2 days ago

CSR Matches: 10 January 2026. Location: Diggle C & D Ranges Weather: Sunshine, snow on the ground Temp: 1 Degrees. Wind AM: 1-4 mph,1/2 left to right PM: None.

A new season starts and what a way to kick it all off, snow and cold weather but Diggle is such a picturesque place, the snow makes the place feel like a different range. Following some snow storms around Manchester and Oldham, the weather left the range covered in 3-4 inches of crisp frozen snow for this months matches, it was a chilly day but excellent to shoot in.

Simon and Russ at 500yds

January Matches UCM. As always, starting with an Urban match designed to test positional technique and accuracy under time duress across 4 distances. This is a dynamic match with shooters completing all four practices back to back, the match itself is a quick one taking just 8 minutes to complete, slight change to the practices for safety reasons with and extra 5 seconds granted for the run downs. Long Range Practices: The long range practices match consisted of two practices at 400yds, 2 at 500yds and the last at 600yds. A mixture of prone, prone with mag changes and sitting at 400 made the shooting challenging. You would think with light winds and a clear day that it would be easy, shooters quickly found that the sun coming up from the 1 o'clock position was straight in your eyes which made it very difficult to see the targets. However, lost of good scores on the day for all. The sun started to make its way around to our right, but as it got higher, the worse it got, still, a tremendous days shooting in what turned out to be quite pleasant conditions, even if the butts when managing the targetry felt a little like standing in a refrigerator! Note to self, peaked cap for winter shooting at Diggle is a must! Pictures from the event courtesy of Russ, Simon and Trev.
